Arnot/Arnott

This territorial name comes from the lands of Arnott, north of Cardenden in Kinross-shire. The family held lands or castles at Balcormo and Fernie. They most settled around the Firth of Forth. As Arnot, they are associated with the Donalds, and as Ardnot with the MacDuffs.
